Road closure information

There will be a road closure and temporary traffic management in Broad Haven on the day of the event.  This is for competitor and spectator safety.  The road closure will be granted by Pembrokeshire County Council following stakeholder engagement, including with the County Councillor and Havens Community Council.  Details are in the two documents below (2025 version, expect everything to be 30 minutes later in 2026).  If at all possible, please avoid travel on the morning of the event, as the roads will be busy with cyclists and runners between 920am and around 2pm.

What and where is the event?

A standard distance triathlon (1500m swim, 42k bike, 10k run) and aquabike (1500m swim, 42k bike) set in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park at Broad Haven, a beautiful expanse of golden sand at the southern end of St Brides Bay. In recent years the event has hosted a stage of the Welsh Triathlon Super Series, the Welsh Standard Distance Triathlon Championships, and has been a qualifier for Tîm Tri Cymru.  The event is organised to the highest standards and is permitted by British Triathlon.

How big is it?

The field is limited to 400 competitors. Relay teams (of 2 or 3) are encouraged and very welcome!

What is the course like?

As standard distance triathlons go, it would be fair to describe this one as challenging.  The 1500m open water sea swim is a rectangular course and never ventures more than 200m from the shoreline.  The 42k bike has over 400m of climbing, and is mainly on rural roads with some fast flat sections, especially as you head back to Broad Haven from Haverfordwest.  The first 3k of the run, which has 130m of ascent in total, takes you along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with spectacular views over St Bride’s Bay, before returning on quiet country lanes to Broad Haven and a finish on the beautiful beach front.

Course maps can be found in the Athlete Brief (2025 version).

Is it suitable for novices?

Plenty of people have made this their first ever triathlon, but it is a pretty challenging standard distance triathlon.  You need to be able to complete the swim in one hour to be allowed to start the bike, and have completed the bike in three hours (from your start time), to be allowed on to the run course.

What is the minimum age?

You need to be 17 or over on 31st December 2026.

How much is it to enter?

£80 (individuals), £90 (relay teams), £70 Aquabike (plus online booking fee)

That sounds like good value! Is everything included?

Yep! The entry fee is fully inclusive of the following:

• Tyvek race number
• Silicone swim hat
• Electronic chip timing
• Finisher’s medal
• Prizes
• Free electronic event photos

Does the event raise money for good causes?

Yes. The net profit from all of our events supports Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club develop triathlon in Pembrokeshire. Each event also supports one or more local good causes, including Greenacres Animal Rescue, Support the Boardwalk, and the RNLI.

Anything else I need to know?

Make sure you have read our Cancellation, Transfer & Refund Policy before you enter.

The Athlete Brief (2025 version) has all the details about timings, registration, the course (including maps and profiles), and prize giving.
